Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Float Pool - Med/Surg

City, State:  All Ascension Hospitals in the greater Milwaukee area

Location:  Able to float throughout all hospitals in the greater Milwaukee area

Department: Regional Resource Pool (RRP)

Additional Job Details:  [.9 FTE Rotating], week and weekend availability.  Our nurses work flexible hours and shifts and the RRP offers  flexible scheduling.  The holiday rotation is no more than 4 Ascension approved holidays per year.  All RRP nurses are PALS, BLS and ACLS trained.

Our RNs thrive on the unexpected and new opportunity each day. RRP staff have reliable transportation and float to 7 Ascension hospitals in the greater Milwaukee area (including Columbia St. Mary’s Milwaukee, St. Joseph’s Hospital, Elmbrook Memorial Hospital, Columbia St. Mary’s Ozaukee, St. Francis Hospital, Franklin Hospital and All Saints Hospital)

The RRP nursing team floats throughout the Milwaukee area Ascension hospitals supporting staffing needs. They are adaptable and flexible to be able to work independently. Our team works together with the staff on the unit to meet the needs of the patients and their families. 

We welcome independent and confident staff, requiring RN’s to have at least 1 year of Med/Surg experience. This group is known to have great teamwork, have flexibility in being able to float to different locations, and work well with others. RRP float staff are able to adapt well to schedule and process changes. There is a constant opportunity for growth and learning

What You Will Do

As an Associate with Ascension you will have the opportunity to provide direct nursing care in a diverse healthcare environment in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Implements and monitors patient care plans. Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
  • Serves as a coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
  • Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assesses and coordinates patient's care needs with members of the healthcare team.

What You Will Need

Licenses/Certifications/Registration:

  • Required Credential(s):
    • BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 2 Months (60 days) of hire date or job transfer date. 
    • Registered Nurse credentialed from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Licensure from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing OR current home state license if considered multi-state/Compact State.
  • Preferred Credential(s):
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA). 

Education:

  • Diploma 
    • Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing required

Work Experience:

  • 1 year required, 2 years preferred.
