What You Will Do

As one of the early members of Ascension’s newly-formed Transformation Management team, the Transformation Director will play a key role in establishing and growing this critical team with a System mandate to help transform our current core healthcare delivery system, while also developing new, transformational models for the future.  In this role, you will have the ability to make an immediate impact.  Your analytical, interpersonal, critical thinking, and leadership skills will be called upon from day one.  You'll be in the thick of the action for Ascension as you work side-by-side daily with senior leaders hand-picked to lead our transformational journey. The Transformation Director will serve as a vital thought partner for cross-functional Design Teams tasked with defining transformation opportunities, designing prototypes, piloting solutions and implementing validated opportunities to reimagine the future of our ministry consistent with our Advanced Strategic Direction and commitment to Dual Transformation. This work will require an agile, proactive individual with strong executive presence, presentation creation and delivery skills, and the ability to make connections across functions and levels of seniority.  The Transformation Director will report to Ascension’s Vice President of Transformation Management, with significant exposure to and engagement with senior level executives across the organization. In this role, you will have the ability to work remotely with understood accessibility to a major airport for required travel.
Key Responsibilities
  • The Transformation Director will partner with Ascension leadership to provide strategic thought leadership and help guide strategic initiatives and transformational activities across Ascension. This individual will play a critical role in defining the future state of Ascension by helping advance a portfolio of transformational opportunities that will shape and drive the overall strategy of Ascension consistent with our Advanced Strategic Direction and commitment to Dual Transformation.
  • Serve as a thought partner for ministry leaders (e.g., Executive Sponsors and Design Team leads) in helping to frame transformational opportunities and identifying priority work streams
  • Partner with Ascension Senior Leadership in identifying new, transformational opportunities that support our Advanced Strategic Direction
  • Scope and structure Design Team work streams, deliverables, timelines, and key milestones consistent with overall Mission-inspired Transformation to drive Design Team success
  • Support the development and implementation of transformational initiatives including Minimally Viable Product (MVP) design and pilot development and implementation
  • Proactively identify Design Team barriers, change management issues and mitigating approaches
  • Maintain an enterprise-wide view of Ascension strategic initiatives and capacity requirements and identify interdependencies across Design Teams
  • Lead and provide guidance to multiple Transformation Management team members assisting cross-functional Design Teams deliver value to Ascension through transformational design & implementation

What You Will Need

  • Education: Master’s Degree in Business Administration or related field required
  • Experience:  8+ years of progressive experience in management consulting, internal corporate strategy, a start-up, finance, or other business environment with proven success leading teams
  • 3+ years of experience driving transformational organization change with proven results
  • Healthcare experience required
  • Experience in management consulting or internal corporate strategy developing and implementing enterprise-wide projects and/or assisting organizations drive major transformational change
  • Superior critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience leading and managing cross-functional teams or work groups as well as direct reports
  • Experience structuring and driving major work streams across multiple constituents in a matrix organization
  • Exceptional interpersonal and team-building skills with executive presence and the ability to build relationships and influence across all levels of an organization
  • Proven ability to lead collaborative work-teams with creative problem solving and ability to overcoming resistance or barriers
  • Experience working in agile methodologies
  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to efficiently and productively communicate both orally and in writing; experience presenting before senior executives
  • Demonstrated excellence in project management and effectively managing multiple projects/priorities simultaneously
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability and willingness to travel 50+% to perform essential duties of the job
