What You Will Do

As an Associate with Ascension WI, you will have the opportunity to:

In collaboration with a physician, provides for the expansion of specialized palliative care services in oncology clinic.

Responsibilities:

  • Outpatient Oncology Clinic - Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday at Columbia St. Mary's Hospital - Milwaukee; Thursdays and Friday at Columbia St. Mary's Ozaukee (potential for inpatient work)
  • Hours: 8 am - 4:30 pm - no weekends or holidays
  • Talk with patients and their families regarding goals of care, advanced care planning, patient and family support, and symptom management
  • Obtains patient history and performs assessment via observation, interview and examination.
  • Provides appropriate treatment and management of health conditions via prescriptive authority or referral to other healthcare providers or community resources.
  • Counsels and educates patients and their families/caregivers concerning treatment options and community resources.
  • Documents delivery of health care in accordance with specific specialty area standards and network policy.
  • Communicates and coordinates with the oncology team

What You Will Need

Licenses/Certifications/Registration:

  • Required Credential(s):
    • BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 2 Months (60 days) of hire date or job transfer date. 
    • One or more of the following:
      • Nurse Practitioner credentialed from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Licensure is dependent on state associate works in.
      • Registered Nurse credentialed from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Licensure from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing OR current home state license if considered multi-state/Compact State.  Licensure is dependent on state associate works in.
      • Drug Enforcement Admin credentialed from the Drug Enforcement Administration. 
      • Board Certified in Hospice & Palliative Care within 1 - 2 years of hire.  

Education:

Diploma 

  • Master's degree of Nursing or higher required.

Experience:

  • Palliative Care or Oncology experience preferred.
