What You Will Do

As an Associate with St. Vincent's Health Services-, you will have the opportunity to

Performs basic patient monitoring activities under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN).

Responsibilities:

  • Remains at bedside of assigned patient at all times unless relieved by an appropriate staff member.
  • Assists in calming and/or reorienting patient in cases of agitation or confusion.
  • Removes visible hazards and/or broken equipment from immediate environment and reports as appropriate.
  • Assists with keeping patient's room clean, safe and orderly.
  • Reviews assignment with supervising RN prior to sitting with patient with sitter safety document
  • Review reason that 1:1 sitter is necessary for patient being cared for i.e. psychiatric and or geriatric issues.
  • Provides for patient safety in a manner to prevent patient injury.
  • Review protocol with covering RN for what constitutes a "safe room".
  • Maintain effective communication at all times with supervising RN.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to work in various patient care settings, performing sitting duties under direction of registered nurse.
  • Other Duties as assigned

What You Will Need

Licenses/Certifications/Registration:

  • Required Credential(s):
    • Certified Nurse Aide obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. 
    • One or more of the following:
      • Certified Heart Saver AED credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 2 Months (60 days) of hire date or job transfer date. 
      • Certified Heart Saver AED credentialed from the American Red Cross obtained within 2 Months (60 days) of hire date or job transfer date. 

Education:

  • HS or Equivalent 
    • High school diploma or equivalent and Previous experience as a Nurse Aide preferred.
