Position: Technician-Medical Lab (MLT)
Department: General Lab Anc 001
Location: St Vincent's Birmingham
Shift: Full-Time; Monday-Sunday, 7on/7off, 9:30pm – 7:30am
What You Will Do:
As an MLT with St. Vincent's Health System-AL, you will have the opportunity to perform routine diagnostic/analytic testing of laboratory specimens, and interprets, documents and reports test results under the supervision of a medical technologist/medical laboratory scientist.
Implements, validates, and reports laboratory test results.
Performs instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
Conducts quality control and quality assurance testings.
Maintains supplies needed for performance of tests.
Assists with data collection or special projects as assigned.
Demonstrates in depth knowledge of the policies and procedures for patient preparation, sample requirements, specimen collection, and pre-analytical factors that affect sample quality.
Responsible for training and mentoring of staff and students.

St. Vincent’s Birmingham Hospital:
St. Vincent’s Birmingham is located downtown and it has over 400 beds and provides space for many physician offices. We are currently in a large renovation project to create more patient rooms and waiting areas. St. Vincent’s provides care for many patients within the downtown area and surrounding communities. Known for our Birth Suites and Ortho Sports service line, St. Vincent’s has a strong reputation in the Birmingham as the hospital of choice for many services and the hospital is easy to get to from any location.
