Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) Registered Nurse
Shift Details: Full Time – Night shift – 7p to 7a. Associates are placed on a 6-week rotation which does not change, allowing the associate to know well in advance of their scheduled days. It is a 3 - 12-hour shift position, working one weekend a month with a 6 day off stretch either before or after their weekend. Cardiac Experience is preferred and one year of nursing preferred but not required.
What You Will Do
Cardiovascular ICU is a private 8- bed unit that specializes in cardiac care for patients who have had Cardiothoracic Surgery. This includes: CABG (Coronary artery bypass grafting), MVR (Mitral valve repair/replacement, AVR (aortic valve replacement), Thoracotomies, carotids and femoral popliteal bypass. You will see extensive hemodynamic monitoring, use of continuous bedside dialysis (CRRT), cardiac assist devices (IABP, external pace makers) and frequent use of vasoactive medications.
On CVICU, you will be trained to detect medical issues before they become a problem, so that you can respond to those emergent situations quickly and confidently. You will:
Implement and monitor patient care plans. Monitor, record and communicate patient conditions as appropriate.
Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
Our average nurse to patient ratio is 2:1 with some patients requiring 1:1 care. Our beds are normally full, and our staff is very rarely cancelled.

What You Will Need
BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
Advanced Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) required within 6 months of hire
Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
