What You Will Do

As an Associate with Ascension, you will have the opportunity to be responsible for outside law firm audits and collaborating with the claims department for effective litigated cost controls.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintains extensive knowledge related to the legal necessity for specific insurance defense related law firm work.
  • Coordinates all aspects of on-site financial audits at law firm locations.
  • Develops and provides educational seminars/webinars for defense counsel throughout the year.
  • Develops and implements outside counsel second chair programs to develop the next generation of trial attorneys.
  • Reviews law firm billings across all types of litigation for compliance with the organizations guidelines and for reasonable and appropriate billing practices consistent with American Bar Association industry standards.
  • Identifies and works with law firms to correct improper or fraudulent billing practices and resolving appeals of reductions.

What You Will Need

Education:

  • High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Bachelor's degree required.

Work Experience:

  • 3 years of experience preferred.
  • Experience as a paralegal or working in a law firm preferred.
