Sacred Heart Health System, part of Ascension, operates a busy medical oncology office in Pensacola, FL. We are seeking an experienced certified medical assistant for the office who can perform both front and back office medical assistant duties and work well within a team.

At Sacred Heart of Pensacola, Florida, we have an oncology team of specialists who practice to the highest standards of cancer treatment guided by research driven by MD Anderson Cancer Network, which is ranked by U.S. News and World Report as the nation's top cancer treatment center.  The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is a research driven institute that selected Sacred Heart as an ally in the fight against cancer.  This affiliation provides Sacred Heart cancer patients with the latest clinical care.  MD Anderson Cancer Network constantly reviews standards and practices to ensure that high standards of care are met. Schedule: Monday – Friday 7:30a - 5:00p

What you’ll need:

This high activity practice requires you to stay productive and be a team player. Good critical thinking skills and a personable disposition will go a long way in your success.

 

As an Associate with Sacred Heart Health System-FL, you will have the opportunity to assists with the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a provider (Physician or Advanced Practice Provider).

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assists with treatments ordered by provider as supervised by provider or registered nurse. Performs select clinical duties.

  • Interviews patients, measures vital signs, and records information on patients' charts. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.

  • Performs basic clerical duties including answering the phone, maintaining records, and filing.

  • Performs basic materials management functions to include ordering and stocking of supplies. Assists with maintaining a clean and orderly environment.

  • May document the provider's encounter with patients. Lists all proper diagnoses and symptoms, as well as follow-up instructions and prescriptions, as indicated by the provider. Transcribes patient orders including, but not limited to, laboratory tests, radiology tests and medications.


Licenses/Certifications/Registration:

  • Required Credential(s):

    • BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. 

    • One or more of the following:

      • Certified Medical Assistant credentialed from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. 

      • Medical Assistant credentialed from the American Allied Health National Certification and Registration obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. 

      • Medical Assistant credentialed from the National Healthcare Association obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. 

      • Medical Assistant credentialed from the American Medical Technologists (AMT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. 

      • Medical Assistant credentialed from the National Association for Health Professionals obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. 

      • Medical Assistant credentialed from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. 

Education:

  • Diploma 

    • High school diploma or GED required

Work Experience:

  • None required.

    • Previous 2+ years’ experience working in a physician office or clinic setting strongly preferred
