What You Will Do
Ascension Borgess is seeking an experienced hospital Pharmacy Director. In this role, you will oversee all pharmacy operations and be a visible leader to your team. Through collaborate and innovative change management, you will be a key strategic decision maker for the 422-bed acute care facility as well as additional smaller Borgess hospitals.
Based in Kalamazoo, Borgess provides care for nearly 1 million people annually in cardiac, neurologic, orthopedic, vascular and bariatric services, among others. We are one of the region’s largest health systems and employers and have been serving as part of Ascension since 1999.
Reporting directly to the VP of Operations, your experience and expertise will directly impact procedures, processes, and standards of operation Ascension wide. As a highly visible leader and transformational agent, a key competency necessary to the success of your role is a comprehensive understanding of Pharmacy Services; the preparation and dispensing of medications, storage and distribution of drugs; compounding according to standard physical and chemical procedures; and ability to direct the Borgess Health wise drug program.
Direct the development and implementation of practices, policies and procedures in all functional areas of the department.
Accountable for staffing and capacity planning for the department.
Oversee the development and monitoring of, and compliance with, departmental budgets.
Utilize your broad knowledge of applicable statutory, regulatory and administrative requirements to direct departmental operations and ensure accountability for the department's compliance.
Work with pharmaceutical vendors to obtain bids and/or negotiate prices for supplies.
Consult with Medical Staff regarding medication information (i.e. drug warnings issues, incompatibility of drugs and so forth) and use in drug therapy.
Adhere to the organization's Corporate Compliance program which includes attending mandatory Corporate Compliance in-services, carrying out position responsibilities in accordance to program guidelines, and reporting any violations.
