Unit Secretary - Emergency Department 001 - PRN,Rotating - SHH PanamaCty BayMedical - Panama City,FL

What You Will Do:

Unit Secretary is an important part of the team, as you ensure the smooth operational administrative function for the unit.  Our main campus Emergency Department/Level II Trauma Center is a 41-bed fast-paced unit that provides care to a wide variety of high acuity patients. 

  • Greets patients and visitors, answers/screens/routes telephone calls, files, distributes mail and performs other general clerical duties
  • Communicates with patients, families, physicians and other healthcare team members about patient care according to protocol. Schedules patients for individual appointment and in a timely manner
  • Provides assistance with programs/software for Physicians/Clinicians through the order entry processes, transfers and discharges. Assembles and maintains patient charts
  • Coordinates meetings/schedules meetings/rooms with the appropriate person, sends notices as requested. Maintains meeting minutes. Enters and maintains timekeeping changes and staff schedules in computer systems

Required Qualifications

Education:

  • Diploma 
    • High school diploma or GED required

Work Experience:

  • None required

Preferred Work Experience:

  • Previous administrative support experience preferred
  • Microsoft Word and Excel experience preferred
  • Managing payroll and data files for regulatory compliance experience preferred

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively relate to patients, physicians and staff
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to set priorities and manage time effectively
  • Able to maintain professional demeanor in high stress environment
  • Strong attention to detail
