Clinical Scholar - Drowning Prevention and Water Safety

Part-Time, Day

24 hours per week

Monday-Friday typical

Ability to work off-shift and weekends as needed to collect data.

Dell Children's Medical Center - Austin, TX

The Clinical Scholar (Research Coordinator) for the Dell Children’s Drowning Prevention and Water Safety (DPWS) program works under the direction of the Dell Children’s Trauma and Injury Research Center program director, in collaboration with the DPWS Program Coordinator, and internal stakeholders to develop and implement an evaluation and research plan for the DPWS.


Preferred Candidates: 

Preferred candidates for this position will have 1-2 years of professional experience and have a master’s degree from an accredited college/university with a focus in population health, public health, health education or a similar area. 

Desired Skills:

• Data abstraction and data quality management 

• Basic analytics capabilities with knowledge of statistical software 

• Public speaking and technical writing (i.e., scientific literature) 

• Program Evaluation 

Other Position Details:

• Ability to work irregular work hours, including evenings and weekends on occasion

What You Will Do

As an Associate with Ascension Seton, you will have the opportunity to lead and conduct clinical research studies.


  • Develops, performs, and publishes clinical research studies.
  • Collaborates with and supports the work of the clinical design teams.
  • Coordinates and integrates, when appropriate, the work of clinical research, clinical redesign, and analytic support.
  • Develops grant acquisition work that results in growth of grant funding.
  • Development and implementation of an evaluation and research plan for the Dell Children’s Drowning Prevention and Water Safety Program.
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to secure funding for program sustainment. 
  • Technical writing and formatting.
  • Perform data collection and analysis to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of program initiatives.
  • Present findings in a variety of methods including, but not limited to in-person, print, and all forms of media sources

What You Will Need


  • Diploma 
    • High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Technical degree required
