Social Worker - Inpatient Group Therapist 

Shift: PRN, Weekends 8:00am-4:30pm

Seton Shoal Creek Hospital - Austin, TX

Ascension Seton Shoal Creek provides a continuum of psychiatric services for adults, including inpatient, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient programs. Ascension Seton Shoal Creek’s inpatient program provides acute-care, interdisciplinary psychiatric stabilization for adults experiencing a wide range of mental health crises. Inpatient Group Therapists with Ascension Seton Shoal Creek facilitate four 1-hour group therapy sessions per day across multiple inpatient units for patients with thought, mood, personality, and substance use disorders. PRN Social Workers at Ascension Seton Shoal Creek are expected to work a minimum of two weekend shifts per month with additional opportunities to work both weekend and weekday shifts.

 

Preferred Candidates:

Preferred candidates for this position will have experience facilitating group therapy and/or with Dialectical Behavior Therapy practice. Experience is not required and training will be provided.  LCSW is preferred

What You Will Do

As an Associate with Ascension Seton, you will have the opportunity to nveistigate, assesse, and plan interventions to help patients cope with social, emotional, economic and environmental problems.

Responsibilities:

  • Interviews patients, assesses priorities and documents case activity.
  • Consults with team managers, statutory and voluntary agencies and patient's relatives to ensure compliance with patient's treatment plan.
  • Assists clients/families with obtaining community assistance by referral to proper resources.
  • Develops and maintains working relationships with community health, welfare and social agencies and seeks creative means to assist the client with his/her needs.
  • Supports management of concurrent review, discharge planning processes, social services, home care and other post discharge needs
  • Provides crisis oriented psychotherapy as well as short-term and long-term psychotherpay and psychotherapeutic treatment.
  • Completes documentation of patient therapy in a timely manner and in accordance with both Federal and State regulations.

What You Will Need

Licenses/Certifications/Registration:

  • Required Credential(s):
    • Social Worker credentialed from the Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. 

Education:

  • Diploma 
    • High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Bachelor's degree required
    • Masters degree is preferred

Work Experience:

  • 3 years of experience preferred.
