RN Charge Auditor-Ascension Seton Revenue Integrity
Full Time Monday-Friday
Preferred Candidate Will Have:
Three (3) years of experience in a hospital or other acute setting
Working knowledge of medical records, broad range of clinical experience is helpful. Experience in Medical/Surgical, Intensive Care and/or Surgery is preferred. Good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently. Effective critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Ability to multitask and deal with unscheduled or unanticipated events. Able to demonstrate the Ascension Core Values.
Related experience in healthcare management or revenue cycle operations
Experience with Cerner Charging Systems and Invision PA preferred
Knowledge of various hospital and professional fee coding and charging systems including ICD10, CPT and HCPCS as well as reimbursement systems such as CMS DRG, OPPS and PFS and all third-party billing requirements
Analytic and problem-solving skills
Attention to detail
Must be able to interact with members of the clinical and revenue cycle teams communicate clearly

What You Will Do
As an Associate with Ascension Seton, you will have the opportunity to coordinate payer denials and appeals, respond to insurance company requests for medical records, and perform medical record reviews.
Complexity of Work:
Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment.
Reviews electronic/paper medical records to determine accuracy of billing through verification of coding, billing and supporting clinical documentation.
Acts as a clinical resource for revenue cycle staff.
Reviews accounts with billing and charging issues in daily electronic queues. Identifies charging and billing error trends and communicates them to clinical departments and leadership in Revenue Integrity and billing to correct front end processes and/or develop system billing edits and bridge routines to automate correction when appropriate.
Interacts and collaborates with other hospital departments to obtain supporting clinical documentation, providing training and education on charging and documentation.
Conducts audits to ensure accurate charge capture, correct and add charges as needed, and enhance reimbursement.
Coordinates all activities associated with insurance carrier audit requests and works with payers to ensure timely handling of these payer audits.
Schedules audits and meets with third party auditors and payers to facilitate efficient and effective completion of third party bill audits.
Assists with compliance audits and reports audit findings and feedback effectively.
Performs other duties as assigned.
