St. Vincent’s Blount hospital is in Oneonta. It is a 24-bed medical surgical and 6 bed ICU hospital Located in Blount County. Oneonta is a city in Blount County, Alabama, with a population of close to 7,000. It is 35 miles from downtown Birmingham. Oneonta is home to the Covered Bridge Festival. This annual event showcases the history of the remaining covered bridges in Blount County and includes an arts and crafts festival with entertainment and events. Other sites to find in Oneonta is the Blount County Memorial Museum, which hosts a variety of resources for genealogy research; and Oneonta’s Palisades Park that features hiking trails and public campgrounds to enjoy.
What You Will Do
Ascension St. Vincent’s Blount Med Surg is a private 24-bed Medical Surgical unit. It is common to have a wide variety of patient populations with multiple comorbidities ranging from respiratory, cardiac, sepsis as well as fresh post op patients. We also have 10 Rehab beds, included in those 24 beds, where a patient may receive Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Long Term IV antibiotic or Wound Care, and can stay up to 21 days at a time.
You will be trained to detect medical issues before they become a problem, so that you can respond to those emergent situations quickly and confidently. You will have many opportunities for assessments, lab value analysis, patient/family teaching, wound care, IVs, medication administration/ management and critical thinking.
Our average nurse to patient ratio is 6:1. Our beds are normally full, in high demand, and our staff work as a team to ensure the best care is provided for our patients. Blount is a small community hospital and we strive to provide excellent care and genuinely care about our co-workers and patients.
Implements and monitors patient care plans. Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.
Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
What You Will Need
Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing required
Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
Advanced Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) required within 6 months of hire
