What You Will Do
Registered Nurse (RN)- Outpatient Surgery Unit - Ascension St. Vincent Carmel
Who are we?
We provide pre and post-surgical care to both outpatients and inpatients at Ascension St. Vincent Carmel. We are passionate about what we do and are committed to making the surgical experience easier and less stressful for our patients.
As an RN in this area, you will provide direct nursing care and education for both the pre and post-operative phases. The preoperative phase includes the establishment of the patient’s baseline assessment, carrying out preoperative interview with patient and family, and preparing the patient for surgery. The postoperative phase of the surgical experience extends from the time the patient is transferred from the recovery room or post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) until the time he or she is discharged from the hospital. You will perform careful assessments and immediate interventions in assisting the patient to recover quickly, safely and as comfortably as possible.
What You Will Do:
Provide direct nursing care for patients in the pre and post-operative period
Prepare and educate patients/families for procedure and discharge
Evaluate patient responses to treatments and interventions
Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate
Work collaboratively with team members
Follow guidelines according to the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) and the American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurses (ASPAN)
Excellent multi-tasking, communication skills and a desire to provide excellent customer service are necessary
Flexibility in schedule is also a must
Hours of operation: M-F from 0500-1800. Minimal Weekend call is required.
