What You Will Do
The Oncology Intake Coordinator collaborates with the Oncology Navigation and clinical team to coordinate and schedule new incoming referrals to the oncology clinics. They answer and monitor the Oncology Care Line. They obtain and accurately record demographic and insurance information and refer under and uninsured patients directly to one of the Financial Advocates. The Oncology Intake Coordinator requests and ensures all necessary medical records are obtained and available to the health care team. The Oncology Intake Coordinator acts as a collaborative member of the Navigation Team and as a resource to the Oncology Patient Navigators. They effectively communicate information to internal and external customers, while maintaining a focus on patient service and patient confidentiality.
Monitors and schedules incoming referrals
Answers telephone, screens calls and provides information to patients and other callers
Registers patients, obtaining and entering all necessary demographic and insurance information to ensure accurate billing
Ensures insurance eligibility is verified prior to the visit
Determines if patient needs referral to Financial Advocate (un or underinsured) or Oncology Social Worker for transportation needs
Obtains and ensures all necessary medical records are available prior to the visit
Answers and monitors the Oncology Care Line
Monitor/Maintains and orders educational materials for the navigation team
Assists in maintaining the Navigation Database
Documents clear, concise and appropriate messages to ensure provider and co-workers comprehension
Responds effectively, handle multiple priorities and meets deadlines
Communicates effectively with all patients, families and customers to exceed expectations
Promotes and maintains excellence in our patient and family experience
