What You Will Do

This associate will be expected to become a subject-matter expert on MACRA, the Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP), the Bundled Payments for Care Improvement Advanced (BPCI-A) program, as well as other government-run value-based programs. The associate will need to develop a deep knowledge of market-specific dynamics that are critical to success under value-based initiatives.

This role is client-facing; the Associate will be expected to provide consultative services and build trusting relationships with the various Ascension markets to expand the actuarial team’s scope and influence. The Associate will regularly interact with and present to C-suite level business leaders, physicians, care management teams, and other operational personnel.

The role requires moderate travel to Ascension market locations (approximately once or twice per quarter).

Responsibilities:

  • Lead projects from inception to completion, anticipating obstacles and ensuring timely completion. Examples of such projects include financial forecasting, cost & utilization trend reporting, continuity of care analysis, enterprise-level risk modeling, as well as ad hoc analytic requests.
  • Monitor the release of new government regulations and new value-based programs, synthesizing the potential opportunities and risks they pose to the organization.
  • Recommend and tailor business strategies to the markets that are consistent with Ascension’s transformation to value.
  • Independently create and maintain actuarial models that justify those strategies and build consensus among stakeholders.
  • Consult and communicate actuarial results and recommended actions to both actuarial and non-actuarial audiences.
  • Establish streamlined reporting processes and workflows that allow for monitoring emerging experience and recommending corrective actions.
  • Mentor junior associates and accelerate their development.

What You Will Need

Licenses/Certifications/Registration:

  • Required Credential(s):
    • Associate Certification credentialed from the Society of Actuaries obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. 

Education:

  • High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Bachelor's degree required.

Work Experience:

  • 5 plus years of experience preferred.
  • Actuarial experience preferred.
  • SQL Server experience preferred.
