What You Will Do

The position reports to the vice President of Pharmacy Services for Ascension Texas Healthcare. As an integral member of the AH Texas Market Pharmacy team, the Research manager’s responsibilities include:

·        Reviewing protocols and clinical investigational drug trials.

·        Attending and contributing to interdisciplinary team meetings relating to clinical investigational drug trials such as SFH Institutional Review Board (IRB).

·        Liaising with principal investigators and/or trial coordinators/research assistants to establish pharmacy’s role, determine fee schedules and to implement dispensing, compounding and billing procedures.

·        Acting as a consultant and provides drug information to physicians, nurses and other health care professionals, as related to clinical investigational trial drugs.

·        Communicating with, and training staff anticipated to participate in any aspect of the clinical investigational drug trial.

·        Publishing research findings, assisting in publications and contributing information about clinical investigational drug trials to the pharmacy newsletter.

·        Performing quality improvement and quality assurance implementation as they relate to IDS

·        Assuring compliance with FDA and the Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations as they relate to IDS.

·        Developing, initiating and maintaining own research projects and help the clinical pharmacists to initiate and maintain their own clinical research projects. 




What You Will Need



  • Required Credential(s):
    • Licensed Pharmacist credentialed from the Texas State Board of Pharmacy .  


  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or Doctorate of Pharmacy required
  • Master's degree or PHD in relevant health discipline  preferred
  • Board certification and/or pharmacy residency or equivalent experience preferred.

Work Experience:

  • 3 years of experience required.
  • 1 year of leadership or management experience required.
  • Minimum of  one (1) year of investigational experience is required.
  • Hospital pharmacy practice experience as a clinical pharmacist preferred.
