What You Will Do
As an Associate with Ascension System Office-MO, you will have the opportunity to:
Lead, direct, guide and assist on compliance matters for areas of responsibility related to the organization. Responsible on an enterprise-wide basis for supporting Chief Compliance Officer and managing key designated aspects of the compliance program.
HIPAA Privacy Officer
Leads a strategic and comprehensive privacy program that defines, develops, maintains and implements covered entity and business associate policies and processes that enable consistent, effective privacy practices which minimize risk and ensure the confidentiality of protected health information (PHI), paper and/or electronic, across all media types
Takes a lead role to ensure the organization has and maintains appropriate privacy policies, privacy and confidentiality consents, authorization forms, Notices of Privacy Practices, and related materials reflecting current organizational structure
Participates in the development, implementation, and ongoing compliance monitoring of all business associates and business associate agreements, to ensure all privacy concerns, requirements, and responsibilities are addressed
Performs and oversees enterprise wide privacy efforts including monitoring of email and network activity, conducting privacy rounds, advising workforce members on HIPAA and privacy, conducting live trainings, preparing educational reminders and materials, and participating in various institutional wide committees and workgroups
Oversees, conducts and responds to internal and government-initiated privacy investigations and follow-up on corrective action plans, in coordination, as needed, with the Investigations and Incidents Compliance Officer
Manages all required breach determinations and notification processes under HIPAA and applicable state breach rules and requirements
Conducts related ongoing compliance monitoring and auditing activities in coordination with the organization's other compliance and operational assessment functions
Oversees and conducts privacy training, including topic specific trainings, as needed
Serves as a compliance thought leader attending operational meetings, as needed
Identifies and implements best practices to respond to ever-changing regulatory landscape
