Registered Nurse Oncology - Oncology Unit 001 - FT Nights - Our Lady of Lourdes Mem Hosp - Binghamton, NY
**$15k Sign-On Bonus Eligible**
Full time, 72 hours bi-weekly, night shift position, 7:00 p.m.-7:00 a.m., working every other weekend, rotating holidays. We utilize a self-scheduling model to assist
in providing flexibility of scheduling.
Oncology is one of the most rewarding fields in Nursing! As our Registered Nurse - Medical Oncology, you will be proving care and support to patients who may be suffering from cancer or have the potential to develop it.

Lourdes Oncology Unit, 1 Medical, is our Oncology/Hospice/Medical-Surgical 28 bed unit which consists of 16 beds on our Ross wing, and 12 beds on our West wing (including two hospice suites). Our unit has all private beds for our patients. Our tech ratios range from 1:10 patients on day shift, 1:10 on Evenings, and 1:12-1:16 on night shift. Our unit utilizes Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Patient Care Assistants (PCAs), and Unit Secretaries who work closely alongside our Registered Nurses (RNs) to help with tasks throughout their day. We use Cerner as our electronic medical record. Our team works closely with our hospitalists, oncologists, radiation therapy team, palliative care team, and local hospice organizations to provide quality, holistic, care to all the patients we serve. Our unit follows a shared governance model utilizing a Unit Based Practice Council that meets monthly to discuss quality improvement initiatives for the department.

What You Will Do
As an Associate with Our Lady of Lourdes Memorial Hospital in Binghamton, New York, you will have the opportunity to provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.
You will work as part of our patient care team which consists of RNs, LPNs, patient-care technicians and unit secretaries. You and your patients will benefit from a multi-disciplinary support team which includes social work, case management, spiritual care, nutrition, pharmacy and respected members of our medical staff. Job responsibilities include implementing and monitoring patient care plans. Monitoring, recording and communicating patient conditions as appropriate: Serving as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care, noting and carrying out physician and nursing orders, assessing and coordinating patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team, attending staff meetings, delegating tasks, and taking part in training new hires.
After completing our hospital-based orientation process through our experienced learning services department, you will begin department specific orientation. In this process, you are paired with a preceptor and begin your orientation pathway. This pathway, over the course of three weeks, helps you build your knowledge of the department, organizational policies and procedures, and develop your ability to navigate a full patient assignment. You will demonstrate your ability to complete nursing level competencies and complete additional online learning modules. You will have check-ins with your department manager and clinical nurse leaders throughout your orientation process to discuss how orientation is going, what areas may need additional support and education, and what is going well throughout the process. We recognize that it’s not always easy to cover everything in your orientation period, to assist in the transition from orientee to working independently, you will continue to have check-ins with department leadership and a unit-based mentor.
