What You Will Do

Responsibilities:

  • Establishes policies, procedures and protocols for testing.
  • Oversees quality control testing, instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Defines analytic accuracy, precision, sensitivity and reference ranges for test methods.
  • Serves as a resource to laboratory staff as well as other members of the healthcare team. May be responsible for staffing schedules in area of responsibility.
  • Monitors workflow and work volume continuously and adjusts worker's job tasks as necessary to ensure daily work completion.
  • Conducts hiring, training, directing, development and evaluation of staff.

What You Will Need

Licenses/Certifications/Registration:

  • Preferred Credential(s):
    • Cytotechnologist credentialed from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC). 
    • Histotechnologist credentialed from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC). 
    • Medical Technologist (ASCP) credentialed from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC). 
    • Medical Lab Scientist (ASCP) credentialed from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC). Acceptable Specialist certifications credentialed from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC): Blood Banking (SBB-ASCP), Microbiology (SM-ASCP).
    • Clinical Laboratory Supervisor. 
    • Laboratory Tech credentialed from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC). Credentialing from American Medical Technologists (AMT) also accepted.
    • Medical Tech credentialed from the American Medical Technologists (AMT). Credentialing from the American Board of Bioanalysis (AAB) also accepted.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Level Degree 
    • Meets the ASCP requirements to be a Certified Medical Laboratory Technician or Medical Technologist with Bachelors Degree in Medical Technology required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, medical laboratory scientist, human sciences or education qualifications as stated per CLIA requirements.

Work Experience:

  • Three years of clinical lab experience
  • 2 years of experience required.
