What You Will Do
POSITION SUMMARY: Directs and leads the team of IT sourcing and contracting associates for the IT category vertical. This director leads the design, development and implementation of policies, procedures and strategies for contracts and contract performance. Strategic direction also includes setting processes and methodologies for sourcing new products or services, approving vendors, and determining when products should be sourced to a single vendor or to multiple vendors to provide for a stable and consistent supply. This position collaborates with the AIS Product Delivery leaders and VLM associates to understand demand and vendor trends, and analyze financial information related to total cost of ownership to identify opportunities for cost reductions.
Lead the IT sourcing and contracting function and manage the divisional and/or functional strategies, including:
Directs and manages staff to include assignment of work, evaluating, coaching, hiring and terminating.
Collaborates with AIS product delivery leaders and VLM associates on contract strategy and the evaluation and implementation of contracted products and services.
Provides leadership throughout the progression of the contracting process as well as directing structured evaluation processes when required.
Develops strategies to address changing business priorities, and identify and recommend changes in programs and policies that drive achievement of performance objectives.
Develops and directs aggregation and operational reporting for IT sourcing and contracting metrics including operational performance, sourcing data analytics, market trends, and benchmarking best practices
Maintain market awareness to provide continuous improvements for sourcing strategies and operations.
Develops and directs RFX process including bid analysis and score carding.
Achieves a competitive advantage in total cost, quality, and technology and supply continuity. Ensure that consistent and defendable sourcing strategies and supporting supply chain processes are in place and properly administered in compliance with all regulations and policies.
Negotiates contracts to signature including business terms and legal terms and
conditions (pricing, payment terms, warranties, etc.).
Monitor current vendor services and cost structures to develop short- and longrange
plans to improve sourcing costs and vendor performance.
In collaboration with the AIS product delivery leaders, look for opportunities to
consolidate vendors and partner with colleagues to set purchasing standards to
improve negotiations and reduce the total cost of ownership for products and
Develops and implements methodologies and procedures which guide and direct
contract compliance and performance.
Directs the business in the execution of the vendor onboarding process, ensuring
that the relevant service levels and key performance indicators are adequately
defined in the contractual documentation (this may include ongoing Vendor
Relationship Management) so that the necessary controls around vendor
management standards are achieved.
Lead change management efforts to drive adoption of IT sourcing and
contracting best practices.
Establish a valued partnership across all departments and functions to create
continuous feedback and ensure vendors are meeting needs, obligations, and
performance and service metrics.
Develop IT sourcing and contracting expense control reduction targets.
Establish ways to gather and share industry trends and impact to IT spend
Performs special assignments or projects as directed and serves on committees
and task forces, as assigned.

Performs light physical work, frequently exerts up to 10lbs of force and up to 50

Travel as needed by air and ground. A 20% travel commitment may be required.

Work space should be in a separate and distinct from associate’s “home space”
which is conductive to working effectively without interruptions.
The position requires:
Strong negotiation skills demonstrated across a range of supplier and
commercial contexts is required.
Experience in IT Operations or IT Project Roles to be able to:
o Understand technical requirements and understand where there are gaps
in contract terms.
o Review and assess transition projects to obtain all necessary obligations
of the supplier to support the life cycle of the relationship.
o Experience in financial planning and budgeting, capital processes,
financial reporting and accounting as it relates to a large IT operation.
o Experience with various technology solution pricing models to
understand the total cost of transactions and the need for requisite
protections in the contract.
o A detailed understanding of the practical administration of vendor
o Experience negotiating complex IT Contracts.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills facilitating the written
documentation and conveyance of complex concepts.
The incumbent must possess strong supervisory skills necessary to direct the IT
Sourcing & Contracting team.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
An MBA or equivalent is required, with a preferred emphasis in the area of
Technology or Management Information Systems.
Deep network of contacts within technology products and services industry (eg
ERP, revenue cycle, IT operations, cybersecurity and HR).
8+ years of professional experience, with at least 5 years of experience in IT
sourcing, vendor management, procurement, and strategic sourcing.
Advanced understanding of vendor management, contract administration,
Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) experience is desired.
