Community Lead Event and Volunteer Program Coordinator

We Are Hiring

Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAAM) is currently seeking an energetic, highly organized, personable individual to facilitate community engagement efforts and provide administrative support to both Development and Marketing & Communications department. The Community Engagement Coordinator will support the growth of HAAM’s community led events and volunteer program and will seek to increase our organizational scale and reach. The Community Engagement Coordinator’s work will result in more volunteers supporting our mission, greater community awareness and engagement with our organization, improved organizational efficiency and increased financial resources. 

  • Full time (40 hours a week), non-exempt. Most hours will fall Monday-Friday during the 9am and 5pm timeframe, however, regular evening and weekend work will be required as needed for community engagement events.

  • Work will be primarily based in the HAAM office at 3010 South Lamar Blvd., Suite 200 Austin TX 78704, with frequent travel throughout Austin for outreach

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience managing projects which require frequent communication with many groups of stakeholders (volunteers, venues, etc.)

  • Experience coordinating outreach and volunteers for an organization

Position requirements:

  • Strong personal alignment with and a commitment to the mission of HAAM

  • 1+ years experience in event planning, volunteer management, administrative support, and/or communications strongly preferred

  • Can-do spirit and a natural ability to build positive relationships quickly

  • A self-starter who embraces new challenges and is internally motivated to succeed.

  • Strong communication skills, both in-person and through email

Comfortable with and skilled in:

  • Trouble-shooting challenges and coming to responsible solutions
  • Balancing multiple deadlines and projects simultaneously to deliver high quality work

  • Working as a part of a team

  • Working with diverse populations

  • Representing HAAM in the community

  • Reliable transportation

What You Will Do

Highlighted position responsibilities: 

Volunteer Program

 

Represent HAAM at volunteer engagement opportunities, outreach events, and community presentations and educate attendees about our mission and programs

  • Recruitment, training, management, and retention of volunteers

  • Research and recommend new volunteer screening practices

  • Process and policy development

  • Tracking and analysis of metrics

Community Led Events Program

    • Represent HAAM at volunteer engagement opportunities, outreach events, and fundraising events and educate attendees about our mission and programs.

Swag 

  • Inventory, storage/organization, ordering

  • Prep for events

Admin/Support

  • Admin and execution support for Signature Events Coordinator and Marketing & Communication department

  • Database maintenance 

  • Invitation send outs + mail merge support for events

 

What You Will Need

Education:
  • Diploma 
    • High school diploma or GED required
Work Experience:
  • None required.
