Pediatric Art Therapist 

Shift:  Full-Time, Days with evenings one day a week for art group

Dell Children's Medical Center - Austin, TX

As an Art Therapist as Dell Childrens, you will be responsible for conducting patient assessments and establishing therapy treatment goals.  Our preferred candidate will have 1 to 2 years of hospital based experience.

What You Will Do

As an Associate with Ascension Seton, you will have the opportunity to develop and implement art therapy treatment plans.

Responsibilities:.

• Evaluates each patient's progress and the effectiveness of art therapy interventions

• Coordinates therapeutic art activities for both large and small groups. Observes patient response and
encourages socialization.
• Provides patient with information regarding resources and therapeutic art activities in the community.
• Functions as a member of the creative arts therapy program and integrates program into the
multidisciplinary treatment plan in order to promote optimal patient care.
• Provides, through direct and indirect involvement, a safe and therapeutic environment for individuals
and groups.
• Assesses and prioritizes child/family needs. Supports involvement of parents and other family members in
the child’s creative arts therapy and health care goals, matching expectations with family needs and
values.
• Orients and oversees creative arts therapy students.
• Performs other duties as assigned

 

What You Will Need

Licenses/Certifications/Registration:

  • Required Credential(s):
    • Therapist specializing in Art credentialed from the Art Therapy Credentials Board (ATCB) .  
  • Preferred Credential(s):
    • BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA). 

Education:

  • Diploma 
    • Bachelor's degree in Art Therapy Required
    • Master's degree preferred

Work Experience:

  • None required.
