What You Will Do

Summary

The Data Governance Program Manager is responsible for prioritizing, organizing, and operating day-to-day data governance activities. The position will be a key component to the success of the Ascension Enterprise Data Governance program.  Primary responsibility is to manage the monthly Data Governance Committee (DGC), and the Data Governance Panel meetings along with setting up and operating dedicated work groups and data governance initiatives. In collaboration with business stakeholders, the Program Manager will develop solutions to enterprise issues and concerns, develop data governance strategies and plans, and facilitates processes for their implementation and maintenance. The position will act as a subject matter expert regarding data governance processes and initiatives. Candidates must be organized, decisive, driven, and have proven success in coordinating complex efforts and deliverables to make an immediate impact to the program.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages the monthly data governance program committees, including preparation, document development, and note capture.
  • Engages with functional / operational leaders to understand business objectives, challenges, and areas of opportunity for data governance initiatives.

  • Aligns with functional business and tech teams to identify gaps, synergies, and suggest process and communication improvements.

  • Partners with internal and/or external subject matter experts to: identify data governance objectives, project parameters, and resource requirements.

  • Analyzes work flow processes and identify issues, roadblocks, or areas for effectiveness or efficiency improvement.

  • Develops recommendations to streamline, reduce cost, enhance effectiveness, improve workflows, or improve the customer experience outcomes of targeted processes.

  • Develops and collects monthly KPIs for the Data Governance program.

  • Develops an intake process to manage data governance initiatives.

  • Ensures adherence to the company’s principles, values, policies, and guidelines.

 Skills:

  • Highly organized individual with understanding of project management principles. 

  • Knowledge of data governance practices and information management needs in the business and IT domains.

  • Large-scale data, analytics, and program management experience is required.

  • Able to interact and lead meetings with VP level and higher leadership.

  • Ability to translate and effectively communicate abstract concepts into an easy to comprehend package.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Applies basic research, information gathering, and analytical skills to select appropriate alternatives from defined options, collect required documentation and verify conformance with standards, assess accuracy of detailed information.

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

  • Identifies and pursues process improvement opportunities based on risk controls, customer experience, efficiencies, and other business-focused factors.

  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with all levels of cross functional teams and leadership.

  • Excellent communication including written, verbal and listening skills.

  • Excellent visual, analytical and problem- solving skills required.

  • Experience with Tableau, SQL, Smartsheet, Survey Tools

 Education & Experience:

  • BA/BS degree (Masters preferred) and 7-10 years’ relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. 

  • Preferred experience with Data Governance processes, and/or Master Data program management. 

  • PMP certification preferred.
     

What You Will Need

Education:

  • High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Bachelor's degree required.

Work Experience:

  • 3 years of experience preferred.
