Ascension Health is searching for a Payroll Manager, in our Indianapolis location, with experience with in-house payroll, garnishments, taxes and various payroll forms.

What You Will Do

As an Associate with Ascension Ministry Sevice Center, you will have the opportunity to manage the day-to-day activities under assigned functions for payroll processing for the organization. Ensures efficient and compliant processes are in place to meet or exceed Service Level Agreements. Develops and trains teams to provide exceptional customer service to associates of the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures all payroll processing activities are completed in accordance with published schedule, such that associates receive pay on time and the organization accounts can be closed for financial reporting.
  • Resolves escalated or complex associate issues that require managerial intervention or involve other process areas.
  • Develops, implements, and ensures compliance with policies and procedures necessary to support operations.
  • Examines operational policies and makes informed recommendations for process improvement and regulatory compliance.
  • Reports on Service Level Agreement metrics in order to maximize effectiveness and efficiency of process area.
  • Emphasizes key performance indicators and metrics for payroll, time reporting, and attendance management.
  • Ensures delivery of business results by meeting or exceeding all contractual service level agreements and managing payroll, time, and attendance costs.
  • Monitors regulatory environment to stay abreast of internal and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Gathers feedback from individuals, payroll, time, and attendance members, local Human Resources, and third-party providers on payroll preparation and time reporting, policy, procedures and metrics.
  • Manages all reporting requirements for assigned functions.
  • Utilizes reporting tools to gain operational insight in order to identify and manage problems and propose resolutions.

What You Will Need

Education:

  • High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Bachelor's degree required

Work Experience:

  • 3 years of experience required.
  • 5 years of experience preferred.
  • 1 year of leadership or management experience preferred.
  • 5 years of In-house payroll experience is strongly preferred.
  • PeopleSoft and Kronos experience is strongly preferred.
  • Tax and garnishment production experience is preferred. 
  • Experience managing large teams.
